Bethany M. Roberts, Author at The Sampler

Bethany M. Roberts is a singer, composer, teacher, writer and multi-instrumentalist. She has been based in Bristol, UK since 2011. She founded Hands of the Heron in 2016, a woman-led songwriters' collective who will release their second album in early 2021. Current projects include House of Figs, a co-writing poetry+music project with acclaimed poet Beth Calverley, and she writes and records original music with composer/producer Rowan Elliott (Solana). She has collaborated on stage and in the studio with Anonymous They, Ben Osborn, Waldo’s Gift, Ishmael Ensemble, Emily Isherwood and other emerging acts. She launched Cuculi Records in October 2020 with longtime collaborator Bec Garthwaite, as a DIY space to release all the music being made in the creative community surrounding Hands of the Heron. An enthusiastic teacher, she coaches adults in singing, songwriting and Western music theory with a person-centred approach tailored to students' specific needs.
