Visual artist and film-maker who often collabroates with free improvised and experimental musicians. Recent work includes Solo Soprano - a personal portrait of saxophonist Lol Coxhill commissioned by the Full of Noises Festival; "Throw Them Up and Let Them Sing" following Kurt Schwitters' journey from Nazi Germany to Norway and the Lake District, featuring musicians Adam Bohman, Sylvia Hallett, Phil Minton and Roger Turner, commissioned by the Hatton Gallery Newcastle and the Cultural Olympiad, "TAPS - Improvisations with Paul Burwell" - 12 short film collaborations with musicians Steve Beresford, Max Eastley, Alan Tomlinson, Sylvia Hallett, Susanna Ferrar, Viv Corringham, Roger Turner and Phil Minton, z'ev and Lol Coxhill, commissioned by Matts Gallery and Anne Bean. Has received numerous Arts Council of England Awards, work distributed by Lux Moving Image. More personal art practice involves extremely solitary abstract/landscape based work mainly in video and sound. Awarded Arts Admin fellowship 2005. For 5 years was co-promoter (with guitarist John Russell) of Mopomoso free improvised music night at the Vortex Jazz Club. www.mopomoso.com.
