Sasha Elina (pronounced Yelina) (b. 1994, Moscow) is a curator and musician based in London. Her major curatorial showcases include Music Space Architecture Festival that she founded in 2018, the STIKOVKA programme at the New Tretyakov Gallery (2015), the Place of Sound new music concert series at the Stanislavsky Electrotheatre (2015-16), the RASSADA open-air concerts in the 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2016) and many more. In April 2019 she curated the 2-week solo exhibition ‘Contact Results in Contagion’ by Cameron Graham (UK) in the Solyanka Gallery (Moscow).
Between 2017 and 2021, Sasha has directed the experimental music ensemble DianaPlaysPerception based in Moscow.
As a performer — flute player and vocalist — she worked with the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME), ГШ (Glintshake), Splitter Orchester, was a member of the Moscow Scratch Orchestra, as well as various small groups and ensembles playing new and free improvised music. She is a member of The Same Ensemble (a duo with composer Kirill Shirokov) and other collaborative projects.
Sasha was a OneBeat 2019 Fellow — a U.S. State Department Programme produced by Found Sound Nation. From autumn 2020, she is undertaking a Masters by Research at the University Of Huddersfield, U.K.
