Corpora Aliena ‘Desert Stories’

Corpora Aliena is pleased to present an IKLECTIK [off-site] online presentation of diverse experimental music based on the theme of ‘Desert Stories’ – and features leading international and pioneering musicians, composers and visualists, including: Nnja Riot – Jimmie Peggie – Pascal Savy – Hanzo Schwarz – and Bernhard Living.

The Desert Stories project has been inspired by the famous composition ‘Déserts’ by the French-American composer Edgar Varèse. Composed in 1954 – ‘Déserts’ is a pioneering work that combines traditional instruments with electronic and taped sounds – and ushered in a whole new world of compositional practice.

According to Varèse, the title of his composition regards, “not only physical deserts of sand, sea, mountains, snow, outer space, deserted city streets… but also distant inner space… where man is alone in a world of mystery and essential solitude.”
