Dawuna + Voice Actor

The experimental yet effortless R&B of Dawuna conjures an intoxicating story world in which he is the mysterious protagonist. His staggeringly beautiful 2021 album ‘Glass Lit Dream’ has become an underground hit, beautifully rendering gospel, soul, R&B, and dance into a texturally rich and otherworldly whole. Dawuna is joined on this co-headline bill by Voice Actor whose debut LP ‘Sent From My Telephone’, was released quietly last year via Stroom and is a wildly ambitious masterpiece of hallucinatory pop spanning 109 tracks!

Dawuna is a New York-based singer-songwriter, producer & composer. His output blends an intimate and timeless mode of R&B with a woozy yet intricate production style that’s entirely his own. A rare word-of-mouth success, Dawuna’s debut record Glass Lit Dream (2021) is a record of luminous R&B laced with gospel undertones and experimental electronics that’s making waves to this day.

With The Guardian pinning him as the creator of one of the year’s ‘masterpiece albums’ it couldn’t hide in the digital wilderness for long.

Sent From My TelephoneVoice Actor’s genre-defying debut was quietly released by Stroom in 2022. The collaboration between Noa Kurzweil (Supertalented) and Levi Lanser (Ludittes) spawned a mammoth of a record, made up of 109 songs; it is over three and a half hours long. In it, we find words are mirrors, reflecting soundscapes that recall memories both specific and universal. The reasoning for the album’s title is clear, as it walks a fine line between ‘music and audiobook’, as one Bandcamp commenter says – and is ultimately both.
