Figures in a Floating Landscape – Turner in The South
A new project in development by Peter Coyte (composer) and Dora Frankel (Choreographer) inspired by and engaging deeply with the later years of the great English landscape artist JMW Turner.
Working with us are musician/photographer Martin Elliott (bass player in Michael Nyman’s band) , composer musician Thomas Gardner (CRISAP, Automatic Writing Circle), dancer Katherine Whale and artist Rachael Dickens.
The gallery will be used as a base to gather sounds, movement and imagery collected from walks along the coast and to develop the piece each day.
There are workshops tracing Turner’s steps, listening with attention to the environment, recording, finding ways of moving, being and seeing and collecting objects.
Visitors can see this evolve over the week returning to enjoy the informal performance on Sunday February 25th at 2pm.
