futuretense: And Is Phi & t l k

Sublime, otherworldly vocals and a willingness to float into intriguing sonic territory link the two artists playing this edition of our free gig series.

futuretense is all about showcasing the best new British and international music, giving you the chance to discover artists on the up, and find your next musical obsession. It’s free, and happens twice a month in our Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer.

And Is Phi is a multi-disciplinary artist, expressing herself as a painter, vocalist, producer and writer. Her sound is an ethereal genre-bending conversation between samples and soulful instrumentation, lifting lyrical poetics and vocal flourishes. And Is Phi is the co-founder of left-field eclectic-electronic R&B project Sawa Manga, as well as a co-founder of the creative hub and artist development project Scrapbook Mixtape.

Bristol-based producer and vocalist t l k stretches the thin fabric of selfhood with their enchanting sound. Fluid in genre and form, their music emphasises improvisation as a core tenet for psychological processing.

t l k’s live show blends a palette of electronic minimalism, ambient soundscape, skewed rhythms, experimental sound design and neo-classical sensibilities to form something gently assertive, enlivening, ever-evolving, and altogether transfixing. Her sophomore EP, ‘Primed For Loss’ is set for release in spring 2023.
