Hearing Narratives
You are invited to Hearing Narratives, a free workshop/seminar reflecting on the aural imagination and how it is triggered by the materiality of sounds.
Brixton Beneficiary Space, ASC, Thursday August 8th 2019, 1.30 for 2pm – 5pm.
Participants are invited to free-write in response to the ‘activated’ sounds they will hear, drawn from everyday materials and to consider the sounds; not so much how they are caused but in terms of responses triggered, as qualities, associations, connotations and implied stories.
The half day seminar commences with a talk by novelist Adam Lively on the relationship between sound and literature and an in-conversation with artist-performer Tansy Spinks.
We welcome interested listeners from all disciplines to attend, for an interactive, creative listening performance.
The format is a half day seminar with talks, discussion and ‘soundings’ and will take place in studio 53, (aka The Sound Bureau), 1st floor studios, ASC Brixton, 246 Stockwell Road, SW9 9SP in the ASC Brixton Beneficiary project space, meeting room and chill out area. The entrance to the building is opposite Brixton Academy – a 5 minute walk from Brixton tube. We will meet guests in the foyer at 1.30. Refreshments provided.
