House of Sound Sonic Trail
The House of Sound Sonic Trail was created by Iain Chambers in collaboration with the London Sound Survey. Located in five sites across the square mile of the City of London, it recreates the lost sounds of specific City locations. These sounds are broadcast through a trail of ‘Mythophones’ – sculptural speakers created by Dan Fox and Dave Young in the shape of large gramophone horns. They allow listeners to connect specific places with their previous functions, and challenge us to experience the City in a new way. The House of Sound encourages us to pay more attention to environmental sounds, and to hear the music within everyday life.
