Junior Jam: African Drumming and Singing
Brighter Sound presents Junior Jam – an exciting new monthly Saturday morning music group for children aged four to eight at Band on the Wall.
Junior Jam gives children the chance to develop and build music skills in a fun, friendly and accessible way. Sessions last two hours and take place on the first Saturday morning of each month, with musical games and activities, including time to experiment, play with instruments and socialise.
In the final session of 2016, we explore the wonderful music and languages of Africa. Create a South African children’s choir and learn songs for celebrations led by Project Jam Sandwich’s cellist Abel Selaocoe. Then get drumming on the djembes – time to make lots of noise and learn amazing rhythms for a super funky morning!
Junior Jam is led by Project Jam Sandwich, a world-folk-fusion quintet of award-winning musicians known for concocting captivating, exhilarating improvisations, infectious rhythms and beautiful melodies from around the globe.
All instruments are provided (ukuleles available for use in sessions only – we can offer advice on where to go and what to buy).
