Junior Jam: Folk Music from the British Isles

Brighter Sound presents Junior Jam – an exciting new monthly Saturday morning music group for children aged four to eight at Band on the Wall.

Junior Jam gives children the chance to develop and build music skills in a fun, friendly and accessible way. Sessions last two hours and take place on the first Saturday morning of each month, with musical games and activities, including time to experiment, play with instruments and socialise.

We’re back on British soil this November, with a jammed-pack session exploring folk music from the British Isles.  Home is where the heart is – and for Project Jam Sandwich’s Scottish violinist Katie Foster, that very much means rapid reels and ceilidh dancing. She will take you through the music and dances of this fantastic world as well as hopping around the rest of the UK to explore what the Welsh, English and Irish also get up to. Plus learn all about the giant double bass with Ali McMath – the largest string instrument of them all!

Junior Jam is led by Project Jam Sandwich, a world-folk-fusion quintet of award-winning musicians known for concocting captivating, exhilarating improvisations, infectious rhythms and beautiful melodies from around the globe.

All instruments are provided (ukuleles available for use in sessions only – we can offer advice on where to go and what to buy).
