Late Music Ensemble cond. James Whittle: MECHANICS OF MEDIATION

An evening of theatrical and improvisatory music inspired by Meredith Monk and celebrating her 75th birthday year with a performance of her first string quartet. LME also pays tribute to fellow American composer Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016).

Exploring the mechanics of mediation, LME’s trademark eclectic programme will feature recent new music by groundbreaking composers Kirsty Devaney, Omar Peracha, Alex Nikiporenko and Louis d’Heudieres.

LME will also premiere new works by two young composers, Rachael Gibson and Catherine Robson, devised with LME in workshops through the “devise.realise” educational project.

Philip Cashian: Mechanik
Omar Peracha: Vox I: Echo Chamber
Alex Nikiporenko: Self-Explanatory Music
Louis d’Heudieres: Vox Pop
Pauline Oliveros: Breaking Boundaries
Catherine Robson: Introspective Torment (premiere of LM commission)
Rachael Gibson: Dethroning an Omnipotent God (premiere of LM commission)
Kirsty Devaney: Root
Meredith Monk: Stringsongs
