Little Tsunamis – Screening and Q&A

Sound and Music presents an exclusive online premiere of Oscillatorial Binnage member Toby Clarkson’s award winning documentary ‘Little Tsunamis‘, with a Q&A, on Saturday 27 June – to coincide with the release of Oscillatorial Binnage‘s new EP ‘Agitations: Post-Electronic Sounds‘.

Little Tsunamis is a documentary essay on listening beginning with three sound artists (Chris Watson, Daniel Wilson, and Jo Thomas), but takes a surprising turn when the director encounters the American deaf author, Louise Stern, on a bus. Little Tsunamis interweaves a number of individual narrative threads that together inform the director’s personal journey as he constructs the film. On the way, he visits unusual places and has fortuitous encounters, a series of social resonances, giving a glimpse of a broader form of listening, beyond hearing.
Schedule
7pm: Zoom introduction / Q&A with Oscillatorial Binnage members (Facebook Live)
7:30pm: Online Premiere of ‘Little Tsunamis’ film.
8:50pm: YouTube chatbox Q&A with director Toby Clarkson, writer Louise Stern and sound artists Jo Thomas, Daniel Wilson and Chris Weaver.
