LPO Breaking Ground: Thomas Adès conducts Stravinsky

The LPO and Thomas Adès will revel in pushing boundaries and turning convention inside-out in this daring programme. After conducting a suite (with two new movements) from his own gleefully provocative opera Powder Her Face, Adès teams up with frequent collaborator and master of musical anarchy Gerald Barry, whose brand new concerto will be unleashed on the mighty Royal Festival Hall organ. And topping the bill is Stravinsky’s fresh take on the myth of Perséphone, a distinctive mix of ballet and choral melodrama from the 20th century’s original musical troublemaker.
