LPO Debut Sounds: New Musick
Hear four world premieres from up and coming composers in the magnificent surroundings of St John’s Smith Square.
Presented alongside choral music from Henry Purcell and Sir James MacMillan, these brand new works from the LPO’s Leverhulme Arts Scholars have been informed and inspired by Purcell’s own Come Ye, Sons of Art (1694). It’ll be fascinating to hear how four talented composers of tomorrow have responded to the creative springboard of this much earlier work.
Musicians from the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Foyle Future Firsts Development Programme join forces with LPO players and echo, a young professional vocal ensemble formed by recent alumni of the Genesis Sixteen young artists’ scheme, to present a bold programme that mixes music from past and present.
