MOBILISE: Mobiles, Music & Sound Festival
MOBILISE is a mini-festival exploring the emergent field of mobile music making and new sound practice. The event sees an incredible line-up of the world’s mobile music masters descending on De Montfort University’s Music, Technology and Innovation Research Centre for two days of workshops, hands-on programming, discussions, presentations and performances. Hackathon Tuesday 28 February. Participants will design and program a mobile performance mobile app with IRCAM’s interaction team. No programming experience required, just a curiosity to be part of a collective Smartphone experience.
Conference Wednesday 1 March, 10 am – 5pm. Discussions, presentations and demos featuring artists, academics, writers, developers and professionals all exploring music, mobility and new sonic arts practice.
Performance Wednesday 1 March, 7pm – 9pm. Evening concert for mobile works, including Steve Reich’s Piano Phase for prepared piano and audience Smartphones.
