Musique Concrete Workshop with Leslie Deere

Part of Audible Old Kent Road for London Festival of Architecture, Delve into the world of musique concrète – with a psycho-geographical twist – in this creative workshop with artist Leslie Deere, turning field recordings in to your own musique concrète composition. Either select from a bank of pre-recorded sounds (provided), or join us earlier in the day on a soundwalk (12.30 – 1.30pm) to record your own.

Learn how to think creatively about found sounds and even silence, and how to use free software Audacity to create a new compositional work. You will need to bring your own laptop and headphones, and if coming along on a soundwalk earlier in the day then some kind of digital audio recording device too – your smartphone is absolutely fine!
Leslie Deere is a London based artist working with a variety of media including 2D printed works, audio collage, sculpture, installation and live sound. She holds a BA Honours degree in Sonic Art under Hugh Davies at Middlesex University, MA RCA and a new candidate for PhD at Glasgow School of Art.
