Of Leonardo da Vinci performed by Elaine Mitchener
A woman reads and reflects upon Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks in this semi-improvised movement opera. Of Leonardo da Vinci explores the universality of death and rebirth by melding vocal improvisation, sound art, image and movement.
Elaine Mitchener and director Dam Van Huynh collaborate to develop David Toop’s music and libretto, with film by Barry Lewis. Together they push the boundaries of opera, testing emotional extremes both vocally and physically, drawing audiences into a unique intimate realm of disturbing beauty.
