OT/NM3 Stephen Altoft

Friday 4th November 8:00pm – 9:30pm

Extraordinary microtonal trumpeter Stephen Altoft plays a programme of music for his specially devised instrument, which plays 19 tones to the octave.

Music by Jim Dalton, John Hails, Ephraim Wegner, Huck Hodge, Donald Bousted, Georg Hajdu, Eleri Angharad Pound, Elizabeth Adams, Casey Hale, and Stephen Alroft explores the new world of sound that this instrument opens up.

Seven UK premieres and three world premieres, representing composers from the USA, UK, and Germany make this an unmissable event for anyone interested in and excited by new music.

Donald Bousted will be present to manage the electronics parts, and both Donald and Stephen will present a lecture on their work with the microtonal trumpet at Edinburgh Napier University at 2pm on the same day.
