RHYTHM STUDIES: IN PRAISE OF LINGERING – A SOUND WALK ON THE SLOW SIDE
Rhythm Studies is a series of sound and listening walks and activities that explore cosmic rhythms, cycles and spectra through vibrational signifiers, encouraging individual and communal sensings of, and attunements with, manifold worlds.
Inspired by the rhythms and cycles of Earthly citizens who are typically relegated to the peripheries of Human perception, this slow walk around Lordship Rec – taking in the lake, model traffic area, woodland and multi-use grassland – will challenge our bustle bubbles and bring us into different time perceptions, and perhaps outside of temporality’s past, present and future. We’ll take our cue from phototropism, birdflight, cloud formation and snail trails…
No materials or equipment are required beyond clothing relevant to the weather/environment, and a sturdy pair of shoes. NB. There is a cafe with facilities in the park.
Attendees will be emailed before the event with details and an exact location for meeting up.
This walk is part of a collaboration between #EnCOUnTERs (SoundFjord) and #Musicandotherlivingcreatures (Café OTO Projects) taking place from March to October 2023.
The project has been made possible with support from the Arts Council England, and the sound art community.
