Runnning Inclusive Online Events

Sound and Music and Drake Music are running a joint digital workshop on how to run inclusive online events. You will need to register in advance in order to get the zoom meeting link in your inbox.

In this inclusive workshop you will learn about some more advanced features of Zoom and hosting tips for running workshops. We will talk about some accessibility and inclusive practice, including discussing a few of the limitations & opportunities of running events online. The session will also look at how to run events which are welcoming to Neurodiverse audiences and facilitators.

The session will be split into three sections:

– Laonikos Psimikakis Chalkokondylis (Sound and Music) will talk about the difference between a meeting and a webinar, how to set up registration pages, polls, some hosting tips, and how to avoid zoombombing.

– Becky Morris Knight (Drake Music) will talk about accessibility and online events, including captioning, audio description, creative access possibilities and how to use pace and space to create a relaxed event.

– Elinor Rowlands (Drake Music, Artist in Residence) will talk about how to run events with and for neurodivergent artists and audiences including running online workshops in an inclusive way.

There will be a space to ask questions after each section, as well as at the end of the event.

This online workshop will take place on Zoom: register for the event to receive the link to the meeting. It will be a relaxed event with a steady pace and a scheduled pause for participants during the session. There will be live captions and any visual materials will be described. We won’t use break-out rooms, but participants can ask questions during the Q&A sections. The event will be recorded (only the facilitators, not the participants) and will be shared with registrants afterwards.

If you need help setting up a Zoom log in, or have any access requirements not covered here, please get in touch to let us know in advance:
