Sonic Waterloo

SONIC WATERLOO (2 – 9 July 2017) is a festival of concerts, talks and workshops exploring the relationship between sound and place. Happening in various locations around Waterloo including IKLECTIK, Lower Marsh, Granby Place, Morley College and Old Paradise Yard. Highlights include an eponymous exhibition that presents videos, installations and sculptures by Hugh Davies, Peter Cusack, Lee Berwick, Rob Olins, Ximena Alrcón and others. There is also a live concert programme incorporating cross-disciplinary sonic arts and free improvisation, with Leafcutter John, Rie Nakajima, David Toop, Janek Shaefer, Lisa Busby Kathy Hinde, Gino Robair and others performing throughout the week. There is also a series of free talks relating to sound & politics, technology, environment and psychology with Jean-Paul Thibaud, Ruth Herbert, Atau Tanaka, Cathy Lane, Iris Garrelfs, and Ian Rawes. Additionally, Soundhoppers will present a sound art workshop for kids. Sonic Waterloo is curated by Eduard Solaz (IKLECTIK) and Steve Beresford & Blanca Regina (Unpredictable Series). Supported by Arts Council England, We Are Waterloo, Eat Work Art, Old Paradise Yard, Morley College, The Engine Room, Resonance FM and CRISAP.
