Sound Junction I

Sound Junction uses a purpose-built sound diffusion system and darkness to create the ideal listening conditions. Surrounded by strange yet familiar sounds, this setting in Firth Hall gives your mind the space and your imagination the freedom to take you on a personal journey through soundscapes familiar and new.

Friday 22nd November

5pm: Concert (60 minutes, no interval)
Featuring works from staff and students from the University of Sheffield Sound Studios.

6.15pm: Meet the Composer (no ticket required)
Louise Rossiter launches her new CD which features works exploring silence, soundscape, and the first three works of the Music – Bodies – Machines project, based on the infographics of Fritz Kahn. Join us for a complementary glass of wine and a chance to speak to Louise about the launch. Her latest work, Neuronen will be premiered in the concert at 7pm

7pm Concert (80 minutes+ interval)
Featuring works from staff and students from the University of Sheffield Sound Studios and invited guest Louise Rossiter.

Saturday 23rd November
1:00pm: FREE Concert (60 minutes, no interval)
Dimitris Savva: Moments of Liberty (complete)

5pm: Concert (60 minutes, no interval)
Works from staff and students from the University of Sheffield Sound studios

7pm: Concert (80 minutes + interval)
Experience outstanding improvisation from specialists Se-Lien Chuang and Andreas Weixler with real-time audio processing and visuals. Sounds from acoustic instruments blend perfectly with field recordings, spectral editing and spatialisation.
