Sound Meditation With Himalaya Singing Bowls

This inspirational and informative workshop will be an experiential journey through the amazing sounds of Himalaya Singing Bowls, their history and use in meditation/relaxation, deep listening and therapeutic practices. Himalaya Singing Bowls awaken a beautiful and powerful mystery within us all. Their rich sonic vibrations alter space, mind, and time. They are used for deep relaxation, meditation, sound massage and for following the Yoga of Sound.

Michael Ormiston is the UK’s most experienced Mongolian Khöömii (Overtone) Singer, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, inspirational teacher, workshop leader and therapeutic sound practitioner.

Candida Valentino originally trained and worked as a visual artist and costume designer for dance and opera. She then had her own sound transformation in 1991 and started working with toning, overtoning and voice work as a tool for healing.

Michael Ormiston & Candida Valentino have been playing and studying the bowls for over twenty years. They perform internationally and have played for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Part of LISTEN, a summer of sound art hosted by Black Swan Arts and curated by composer Helen Ottaway. Funded by Art
