In Their Own Words – London
Composers Anna Braithwaite and Michael Betteridge have teamed up to create a radical new music-theatre piece, staged by director Nick Blackburn, that will tour the UK later this year. The production features the premiere of two new works that set the stories of people facing life- changing diagnoses to a musical backdrop informed by the composers’ eclectic influences from both avant-garde and popular culture. Tackling universal themes of loss and survival with honesty and humour, these are musical portraits told ‘In Their Own Words’.
“Michael Betteridge’s inventive score parodies Handel’s choruses, medieval courtly dance and even barber shop quartet.”
