THREE FRAGMENTS, NOVEMBER EP LAUNCH – PHAEDRA ENSEMBLE

Sonic portraits created in collaboration with Bishi Bhattacharya, Mira Calix and Love Ssega and performed live by Phaedra Ensemble
(https://www.phaedraensemble.com/ ).

Phaedra Ensemble’s latest release explores how constant content creation has become central to artistic existence.

During November 2021, Phaedra Ensemble asked October House Records artists Mira Calix, Love Ssega and Bishi Bhattacharya to take sonic snapshots of their lives – capturing moments on their phones, curating audio fragments, recording voice memos, and journaling their thoughts and musical processes. Phaedra have taken these fragments and woven music through them, adding their own distinct sound, creating three unique collaborative compositions.

Alongside the performance of these new works the programme will also feature rarely heard works pulled from CoMA’s (Contemporary music for all) unique catalogue of contemporary open scored works for ensemble.

Three Fragments, November is released on the 28th of January and available exclusively to stream and download on October House Records.

Founded in 2014, Phaedra Ensemble has evolved from a string quartet to a larger collective of like-minded performers, drawing from London’s diverse musical landscape. They make music in the space between the classical, contemporary and experimental worlds, rethinking popular culture and collaborating across genres.

‘Cross-genre collective Phaedra are part of a new breed of ensembles tearing up the rules of classical and creating a trailblazing hotpot of sounds in their wake.’
