Two New Duo & Peyee Chen
Together with soprano Peyee Chen, Two New Duo (cellist Ellen Fallowfield and trombonist Stephen Menotti) present a diverse programme of new works that investigate the nature of a word: its transience, multiple meanings, narrativity, and structure. As part of an intercultural exchange, Japanese composers Chikako Morishita and Yukiko Watanabe are working together with Dr Aaron Einbond, lecturer at City, University of London, and in close collaboration with the performers to develop new pieces for their unique instrumentation.
Two New Duo are a cello and trombone duo specialising in the performance of contemporary music. Both musicians are active collaborators with young and established composers and have performed together throughout Europe, including Basel, Zurich, Strasbourg, London, Huddersfield, Frankfurt and Berlin.
Peyee Chen is a soprano with a particular interest in contemporary and Baroque music. Appearances as a soloist include the Gavin Bryars Ensemble, Adelaide Festival, Club Transmediale Festival, Edinburgh Contemporary Music Ensemble, Lucerne Festival with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and Barbara Hannigan, Pierrot Lunaire on the York Spring Festival, The Light Show as part of Southbank Centre’s Harmonic Series, and world premieres at Spitalfields Festival, GEMdays, Tête à Tête Opera Festival, and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
