This month we have asked the talented Composer Katie English aka Isnaj Dui to be our guest editor!

Katie English makes music under the name Isnaj Dui and plays in the bands littlebow, The Sly & Unseen and The Doomed Bird of Providence.  London born, she now lives up in the hills of Halifax.

Having studied flute from a young age, Katie has also studied electronic music at University of Hertfordshire, alternative tunings and Balinese gamelan and enjoys learning with each new project.  Her solo work as Isnaj Dui incorporates concert and bass flutes, home-made instruments and electronics and she is often cited as a distinct voice, taking the flute away from its pastoral image whilst maintaining its pure tone.

Aside from several albums she has also composed site-specific sound installations including UNThread as part of a series in unconventional spaces around Essex, and soundtracks including Losing the Marshes. A prolific live performer, Katie has performed in numerous high profile venues and has received extensive attention in Wire Magazine and air play on Radio 3’s Late Junction and BBC 6 Music.  A new EP ‘Sunspot Loops’ is due for release on Courier Sounds on July 3rd, followed by an album later in 2017.

As well as music making, Katie has a day job in bookkeeping and enjoys printmaking, predominantly in relief print, producing abstracted natural forms.
