This month we welcome the talented composer Thomas Butler to be The Sampler’s Guest Editor!
Thomas Butler is a composer based in Glasgow. He creates instrumental and electronic work on themes including technology, authority, psychogeography and environmental sustainability. His work often incorporates location recordings, archive footage, interview material and video. He is Musical Director of new music group Ensemble Thing.
Recent compositions include Sandglass, a commission from Sound Festival and DanceLive, and Aeolian Survey, a work written whilst on residency at the Banff Centre, Alberta. His new work Limnology (Slims River) will be performed by Red Note Ensemble at the Lammermuir Festival on 22nd September.
