1) Blue Lab Beats/Major Ruse/Scott Xylo (Leicester)
An eccentric mix of jazz, hip hop and R&B awaits in this exciting display of musicianship at this ever-growing jazz festival based in the East Midlands. With live sampling as well as live instrumentalists, this event should be near the top of every jazz-lover’s list.
2) Sense – Ligeti Quartet (Sheffield)
Being one of the forefront chamber ensembles performing new music around the world, I feel incredibly lucky to have seen the Ligeti Quartet perform numerous times. Their new project, which is based on music and the brain, will be intriguing, as is the programme they will be performing. An event not to be missed!
3) Senza Misura (Huddersfield)
A different performance at every concert, Senza Misura offers a unique approach to piano music. With 27 segments of music, played at the discretion of the performer, any one of these events will be unique.
4) SONA: Vicky Clarke (Sheffield)
Exploring the raw sounds of materials, self-built instruments and installations, this special event hosted by SONA is sure to be a one-off experience. The tour de force that is Vicky Clarke will take you on an exciting journey of other-worldly sounds.
