Borough New Music is delighted to announce its next season of eight series of concerts, from Series 2 starting in October 2017, to Series 9 in June 2018. Altogether, there will be 34 concerts, featuring 49 performers, the works of 122 living composers including 37 premieres.
All Borough New Music concerts are held at St George the Martyr Church, Borough High Street, SE1 1JA (just opposite Borough tube) on Tuesdays at 1pm, and admission is free. Each concert lasts around 50 minutes. Light refreshments are served after every concert.
Artistic Director Clare Simmonds, said: “Each Series in Borough New Music is a very exciting prospect for performers, composers and audiences alike. It is neither a festival, nor a ‘one-off ‘. Rather, it’s as an ongoing opportunity to celebrate the wonderfully diverse music written today.”
Concerts this season include collaborations with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, the 2021 Concert Series, World Toy Piano Week, Bastard Assignments, the Windup Penguin Theatre Company, and London Ear Festival.
Each Series includes four or five concerts: one featuring a performer; another a composer; one focusing on an instrument; and one ‘pot luck’ – where anything goes! Guest artistic directors have been appointed to Series 3 (Patricia Auchterlonie and Ben Smith); Series 4 (Robert Percy); Series 5 (Mimi Doulton and Patricia Auchterlonie); and Series 9 (Hollie Harding).
